Funeral services for Clovis Long, 83, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery. Clovis passed away at his residence, Sunday afternoon, Jan 6, 2013.
Clovis was born December 28, 1929 in Ravenna, Texas, the son of Higginbotham "Doc" Long and Donne Pearlena Jourden Long. He attended Randolph Schools. Clovis was a US Army veteran and a US Marine Corp veteran. He was a construction worker for a number of years with Walker Construction Co. He was a former member of the Labor Industrial Union of North America and was a member and past Commander of the American Legion post in Bonham. Clovis loved fishing, hunting and trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, O.C.B. Long, Carrol Long, R. J. Long and Albert Ray Long, three sisters, Bonnie B. Long, Velma Neal and Gladys Keene and two great granddaughters, Amberlynn Guest and Breanna Perry.
Surviving are 2 Sons, Greg Long and Mark Long, both of Bonham, TX, 1 Daughter, Bonnie L. Clark and husband, Danny of Bonham, TX,
1 Sister, Johnnie Naylor of Telephone, TX, Grandchildren, April Long, Richard Sharp, William Perry and Danelle Clark, all of Bonham, TX, Angela O'Neil and husband, Daniel of Arlington, TX, Bonnie Kay Bursell and husband, Daniel of Colorado Springs, CO, Great Grandchildren, Ashlynn Brauer, Kairi Perry, Samuel Sharp and Zoe Sharp.
Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be David Fields, Joe King, Thomas Sunderland, Vince Young, Carl Coffelt, Wayne Johnson, Carl Presley and Jake Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn McDowell, Jim Guest, Gregory Guest, Richard Sharp and William Perry.
