Clarice Murray

Memorial services for Laura Clarice Murray, 80, of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at First Christian Church in Bonham under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Gibbs will officiate. A private family committal will be held at Carson Cemetery in Ector, Texas. Clarice passed away Monday morning, Dec. 9, 2013 at her residence.

Clarice was born September 20, 1933 in the Ubell Community of Northeast Fannin County, Texas, the daughter of James Benson and Hazel Gaither Benson. She was a graduate of Honey Grove High School and attended Paris Junior College. Clarice married Robert Leslie who preceded her in death July 14, 1989. She later married Gaylen Murray on April 28, 1990, and he preceded her in death March 26, 2006. Clarice was a member and Elder of First Christian Church where she served on the board and participated in numerous church activities. She was a teller at First State Bank in Honey Grove and Bonham State Bank. She then worked as Secretary/Treasurer at VPG, was manager of the Credit Union at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham and later, a realtor for Frontier Properties. While her girls were growing up, Clarice was an active Campfire Girls Leader. She loved her community and was active with the Main Street Project and Adult Literacy. Clarice enjoyed lifelong friends, playing bridge, her children and grandchildren and spending time at the beach. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Allen Benson, a sister, Joyce Benson Herrington and a niece, Laura Purdy.

Clarice, known to her family as " Memommie", is survived by her
daughters, Paula Leslie Jones and husband, Ed of Cooper, Texas, Tina Leslie McAnally and husband, Bruce of McKinney, Texas, and Lorna Leslie of Bonham, Texas,
five grandchildren, Amber McAnally McDaniel, Austin McAnally, April McAnally and Alison Jones, all of Austin, Texas and Jackson Jones of Fort Worth, Texas; two great grandsons, Henry McDaniel and Travis McDaniel; three Nieces, Jeanie and Julie of Idaho and Muriel of California; one nephew, James Benson of Idaho; sister-in-law, Pat Benson of Idaho; and
devoted caregiver and companion, Barbara Williams of Lamar County, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
