Chief Jack Coleman Berni

Funeral services for Chief Jack Coleman Berni, 57, of Ivanhoe, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Brad Dardaganian will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Jack passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Jack was born April 8, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Dr. Daniel Lee Berni and Iris Nadine Levinson Berni. He was a 1977 graduate of Bonham High School. Jack married Beverly Hilliard on August 22, 1981. He was employed with the Bonham Fire Department for 36 years and retired as Captain. Jack was currently the Fire Chief for the City of Commerce. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Texas Task Force #2 and numerous Fire/EMS organizations. Jack was a local businessman for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack is survived by his Wife, Beverly Berni of Ivanhoe, Texas; Son, Scott Berni and wife, Payton of Ivanhoe, Texas; Daughter, Sarah Berni Belt and husband, Chase of Palestine, Texas; Honorary Son, Danner Duncan of Bonham, Texas; Sister, Jill Herz and husband, Paul of Dallas, Texas; Mother-in-law, Cathryn Hatch of Bonham, Texas; Grandchild, Jaxlea Belt of Palestine, Texas; Nephews, Harry, Paul, Jr., Jack, Paul and Thomas; Niece, Margaret; Brother-in-law, Mark Hilliard of Ivanhoe, Texas; and Lucy, his canine companion
Pallbearers will be Fire Department members, Chief Brad Nichols, Dusty Baker, Alan Reaves, Chris Flippin, Gabe Wittkopf, Matt McWhorter, Chance Roberts, Kirk Birdwell, Billy Hughes, Josh Cato, and Chris Bassham. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Gilbreath, Jimmy Herpeche, Press Cox, David Duncan, Steve Abbott, Tom Fox, Chester Bench and Bruce Caylor.
