It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles H. Short on February 4th, 2025. Charles was a beloved husband, father and friend, who touched the lives of so many with his kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit.
Born on January 31, 1943, in Trenton, TX to Charlie and Etta Short. Charles developed a love for gardening, fishing, watching westerns, riding horses, and playing dominoes. Charles was a dedicated man, leading to a fulfilling career in which spanned many decades. His first career was with Emsco and after 20 years of service he retired. Charles then worked for the City of Bonham for 16 years and retired a 2nd time.
Charles will be remembered for his dedication to family, strong faith, and his ability to make everyone around him feel valued and loved.
Charles is survived by wife of 61 years, Joyce Short of Randolph, TX, sons, Tim Short (Sue) of Blossom, TX, Phillip Short (Dana) of Conway, AR, grandchildren, Eric Short (Minti), Ryan Short (Carson), Charli Spencer (Trey), sisters, Betty Wortham, Corene Crawford, great-granddaughters, Noah Short, Andersen Short, Kenli Spencer, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his loss. He is preceded in death by, parents, Charlie and Etta Short, and sisters, Willie Beller, Dolly Cranfield, and Maudi Garver.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Wise Valley Chapel, starting at 10am where family and friends will gather to celebrate Charles's life and honor his memory. Visitation will be the night before from 5pm to 7pm at Wise Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be, Ryan Short, Eric Short, Trey Spencer, John David Shelley, Gerald Beller, Brian Beller Honorary will be Tom Simms, Neal Ooten, Larry Foust, and Johnny Shelley.
Rest in peace, Charles. You will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
