Celia Lee Peterson Coonrod Ramsey

Funeral services for Mrs. Celia Lee Peterson Coonrod Ramsey, age 93, of the Boyd Community, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Boyd Baptist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Bro. Rex Jackson, Bro. Mark Posey and Bro. Mike Allred, Pastor; Boyd Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Duplex Cemetery. Celia passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Nursing Home in Bonham.
Celia was born on May 22, 1922 in the Duplex Community of Fannin County, the daughter of C.E. Peterson and Celia Sharp Peterson. She was raised by her grandparents (Ruth Josephine Peterson and Peter Jenson Peterson) from the age of 9 months, when she lost her mother. She married Earnest Raymond "Ray" Coonrod on November 5, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1996. She worked during World War II as a steel burner in the shipyards of Tacoma, Washington and later became a seamstress for Bonham Manufacturing while continuing to sew for the public and her dear family. Celia enjoyed her fellowship in the Home Demonstration Club in the 1950's and during the 60's and 70's, she and Ray owned and operated the Country Boy Store then later starting working for the BISD Cafeteria and then worked at the fabric department at Bonham Wal-Mart. She was a faithful charter member of the Boyd Baptist Church and was a Shining Star in the Homebound Ministries. She loved fishing and hunting but her main enjoyment came in the form of her family and friends visits, that included her fond memories of raising not only her immediate family, but the fellow friend's children and grandchildren who affectionately was known as "Grandma Coonrod" or Granny to so many children in the community. She was preceded in death by her previous husband J.C Ramsey, sons, R.W. "Dub" Coonrod and Lyndell Coonrod, daughter, Elsie Abrahamson, brothers, Kenneth Peterson and Bill Peterson and Shorty Peterson (KIA WWII 1944); sisters, Christine Josephine Kelly and Alma Ruth Burrell; granddaughter, Lori Stauffer; great granddaughter; Chenoa Stauffer and great great granddaughter, Bella Ross. and daughter-in-law, Nadine Coonrod, son-in-law; James Hayes.
She is survived by:

Daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Phil Gardner of Duplex
Daughter: Mary Rose Hayes of Rowlett
Daughter-in-law: Ruth Coonrod of Bonham
Grandchildren are Mitzy Schrade (James), Lyn Lee Abrahamson, Earnest Abrahamson, Billy Coonrod (Tina), Bruce Coonrod (Janice), Bryan Coonrod, Brenda Lay (Bob), Debbie Davis (Paul), Ricky Coonrod (Kathy), Steven Wells (Susan), Michael Wells (Jedeen) grandson-in-law, Brock Stauffer, Lisa Howland (Jamie) , Scott Beezley (Amber) and Clint Beezley and over 100 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren extended family and a host of friends
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grand sons-in-law
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until service time at Boyd Baptist Church on Sunday and Celia will lie in state at Wise Funeral Home on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
