CAROLYN VAN ZANDT
Funeral services for Carolyn A. Van Zandt, age 89 of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2007 in First Christian Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Edwards will officiate. A private family committal will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Carolyn passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 at Seven Oaks Nursing & Rehab in Bonham.
Carolyn was born April 9, 1918 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Brewer and Mary Agnes Wilson Brewer. She was a high school graduate and attended college. She married Ben York and later married Captain Rufus Van Zandt, who also preceded her in death. Carolyn was a model for several years and was in a number of beauty pageants where she earned the title of Miss Nebraska and Miss Trans Mississippi. She was a window dresser for the May Company and civil defense director for San Bernadino. As host of her own radio talk show in Apple Valley, Carolyn had a very special guest, Rev. Billy Graham. Carolyn also had her own newspaper column for a number of years. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary in Apple Valley and also the ?Pink Ladies? at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham where she helped to establish the gift shop. She was a member of First Christian Church in Bonham. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Serbian. Carolyn had a special friend, Lady, her beloved cat.

Son: Lennox York of Clovis, California Daughter: Stephanie Daum of Henderson, Nevada 6 Grandchildren: Felecia Daum, Trevor York, Gabe Serbian, Brandon Serbian, John Serbian and Elliott Serbian.
Pallbearers will be Qumars Behzadi, Gordon Whisenhunt, Charles West, Stephen Halbrook, Donald Smithson and William Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Snider, Jim Van Zandt, Mike Titmas, Bruce Berg and Richard Murden.
