Bobbye Jo Phillips Lumpkins, 86, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, at her home in Bonham, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday May 24, 2018, in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Guests are welcomed to stay to greet family at the Wise Chapel immediately following the Memorial. As Mrs. Lumpkins selected cremation, a private interment will be held at a later date at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham.
Born June 13, 1931, in Sherman, Texas, she was the daughter of Bailey F. Phillips and Maude E. Turley Phillips, with sister Jimmye Lee Phillips.
She attended Bells schools, graduating from Bells High School. At age 18, she married Clifford Wade Lumpkins of the 3P Community and Bonham. They had daughter Deidre Lee Lumpkins. With Clifford's career as a Safeway Store manager, they moved from Sherman, to Denton and Gainesville, before establishing their home in Bonham.
Bobbye was a secretary, serving for over a decade as secretary to the principal at I. W. Evans Elementary, in Bonham. She and Clifford were active together in community, church and youth functions, including PTA and Camp Fire Girls.
Bobbye and Clifford traveled with groups and friends, to places from Hot Springs to Niagra Falls. Shopping and exploring craft shows with her sister Jimmye and friends were anticipated adventures. Having Deidre and Jim Froelich establish their home in Bonham, brought great joy.
As grandparents, they were enthusiastic spectators and encouraging in all ways for their grandchildren James Clifford (J.C.) and Deidre Anne (DeeAnne) Froelich, who were the ultimate treasures of their lives. GrandBobbye was well known and loved by all of their friends as well.
Clifford Lumpkins passed away twelve years ago, May 10, 2006, and her dear sister Jimmye Phillips last year, July 9, 2017. Bobbye looked forward to seeing all again in the next life, along with her dearest friends who have preceded her, particularly Mary Catherine Grunert. She truly appreciated the visits and contacts from her friends at the First United Methodist Church of Bonham and those who worked with her in the BISD schools.
Bobbye is survived by daughter Deidre Lee Lumpkins Froelich and husband Jim Froelich DO of Bonham, grandson J. C. Froelich of La Porte, and granddaughter Deidre Anne Froelich of New Orleans, Louisiana, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jimmy and Betty Lumpkins, first
cousin J.T. Ford of Orange, Texas and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family wishes to thank caregivers Lisa Church and Theresa Brown of Seven Sisters for their 24/7 care over the past months. Thank you to Home Hospice of Grayson and Fannin County with appreciation for their end of life care.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Bobbye Lumpkins would encourage your donations to the charity of your choice or recommend Home Hospice of Grayson and Fannin County, the FUMC building fund or to Women Rock, as Bobbye was a breast cancer survivor of 36 years.
