Bobby Ray Lyon, age 89 of Leonard, Texas entered Heaven's Gates on August 3, 2024.

Bobby was born in Randolph, Texas on February 21, 1935, to Richard and Pearl Lyon of Leonard, Texas. He was a graduate of Leonard High School and Northrop University in Inglewood, California. Bobby married Rita Lois Hall on July 11, 1958. Bobby joined the US Army shortly thereafter and was a crew chief for the L-19 Bird Dog, a reconnaissance aircraft and they were stationed in Colorado Springs, Co as well as living the remainder of their years in Leonard, Tx.

Bobby was an A&P Aviation Mechanic for Raytheon for over 45 years as well as a farmer. Bobby was also an airline pilot with his own J-3 Cub airplane, and he was passionate about flying, building and flying model airplanes, farming, cattle, raising vegetables, growing pecans, and country living. He was a man of strong, hardworking Christian values.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents: Richard and Pearl Lyon. He is survived by his loving wife Rita Lyon of 66 years and his son Randy Lyon and wife Terri of Ft. Worth, Texas and his daughter Kimberly Wilson of Grand Junction, Colorado. Bobby is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren and one well-loved great-grandson: Savannah Conley and husband Kenny, as well as their son Levon, Hannah Lyon, Lillian Hubbard, and Caylee Lyon.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 3pm at Clyde W. Cosper State Veterans Home @3pm. Burial will take place at a later date at Randolph Lindsey Cemetery, Randolph, TX.
