A visitation will be held for Bobby Ray Blackerby, 86, of Bonham, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2019 at Randolph Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Rev. David Brackett will officiate. Bobby passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2019 at his residence.
Bobby was born February 1, 1933 in Randolph, Texas, the son of Richard Enich Blackerby and Florence Diola Davis Blackerby. He attended school in Randolph, Texas. Bobby married Betty Lorene Smith on Dec. 9, 1950 in Bonham, Texas and they celebrated 69 years in December of 2019. He was employed with Lone Star Gas Company for over 32 years. He began as a meter reader and held various positions, ending as a General Supervisor when he retired. Following retirement, Bobby delivered ice in Fannin and Lamar counties for a number of years and worked for First National Bank in Bonham. He was a member of Randolph Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and dominos, watching western movies, and mowing with his John Deere tractor/mower. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Peggy Shelley, Vonnie Langley, and Cleva Jo Ferguson.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Blackerby of the home, 2 sons, Richard Everett Blackerby (Denise) of Virginia Beach, VA and Roger Allen Blackerby (Karen) of Bonham, TX; daughter, Rebecca Lou "Becky" Holladay (Gene) of Bonham, TX; brother, Jimmy Eugene Blackerby (Betty Dean) of Bonham, TX; sister, Sandra Bailey of Alvarado, TX; grandchildren, Lana Ogden (Philip) of Crowley, TX, Lisa Wright of Fort Worth, TX, Jeremy Blackerby (Sabrina) of Ector, TX, Hannah Cooper (Gary) of Alexandria, VA, Isaac Blackerby of Bonham, TX, Kate Burke (Jordan) of Concord, MA, Sara Blackerby of Weymouth, MA, Matthew Blackerby of Massachusetts, and Chelsea Lambert (Nick) of Virginia; 8 Great grandchildren, 6 Great Great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Home Hospice of Grayson County.
