Funeral Services for Billy Frank Wells, age 77 of Bonham, will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Boyd Baptist Church in Bonham, TX, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Mark Posey, Bro. Rex Jackson, and Bro. Mike Allred. Interment with Naval Military Honors will follow at the Duplex Cemetery in Duplex Community, Texas. Billy passed away on January 4, 2018 at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham.
He was born August 31, 1940 in Bonham, Texas to James Homan Wells and Lillie Mae Moore Wells. He married Charlotte Lou Coonrod on August 29, 1959 in Bonham. He was a graduate of Bonham High School in 1959 and attended East Field College in Mesquite, Texas. Billy entered the US Navy right out of high school and was a Retired Navy Veteran serving from 07/01/1959 to 06/20/1979 as an Avionics Electrician and received numerous honors and awards during his Naval Career. He later worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon as an Electrician. He enjoyed fishing and coaching numerous activities with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards and games and spending time with his family. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, James Homan Wells and Lillie Mae Moore Wells, and Daughter and son-in-law: Lori Wells Stauffer and Brock and his siblings; SL Wells, Oland Wells, Jerome Wells, Dorothy Wells Marsh, Ruby Mae Wells Morrow and Ellen June Wells Henslee and a Granddaughter, Chenoa Stauffer and his Great Granddaughter, Bella Ross, several in-laws and extended family.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Lou Coonrod Wells, sons, Steven Frank (Susan) Wells, Mike Wells and Jedeen Swinehart; daughter, Lisa (Jamie) Howland; grandchildren, Jessica (Jimmy) Lee, Austin (Beth) Wells, Kirbee Harrison, John Ross, Lorena Badaracco, Jennifer (Curtis) Smith, Ashley Howland and Chris Hennig, Megan (Wayne) Melton; great-grandchildren, Fletcher James Lee, Trenadi and Jordan Leftrick, Sophia, Mia and Gianna Ross, Josh and Madelyn Smith, Tre Stauffer-Jenkins, Audrey Kovar, Brinklee Melton; Other surviving family include, several nieces and nephews and extended family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Austin Wells, Scott Beezley, Dr. Jimmy Lee (Captain USAF), Butch Isham (Ret. US Navy), Wayne Melton, Bruce Coonrod, Brian Coonrod and Billy Coonrod
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Payne, Buddy Lacewell, Lonnie Jaynes, Willie Manning and Curtis Smith.
The family will receive friends at 1-2 PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Boyd Baptist Church 3707 HWY 78 Bonham, Texas 75418.
Memorials may be made to the Duplex Cemetery Association or the Boyd Baptist Church Homebound Committee.
