Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Joyce Wood, age 87 of Bonham, Texas will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, Texas, with Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Arledge Ridge Cemetery, in Bonham, Texas. Betty passed away early Monday morning, March 27, 2017 at her residence.
Betty was born September 30, 1929 in Bonham, Texas to Rufus Bradford "Bud" Stone and Marcia Chapman Stone. Betty graduated from Bonham High School in 1945 and attended college at East Texas State University. She was an avid traveler and talented water color artist. She was an accomplished bridge player and took many university courses in her later years. Betty also worked at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in the Administrative office. She enjoyed reading and was on the board of the Arledge Ridge Cemetery Association. She was an active member of the Fannin County Historical Society and member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham, Texas and was a caregiver to so many and enjoyed visiting with them when she was able.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and Husband, Jack Wood.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Stone Moore of Sherman and brother, Jerry Stone of Malakoff. Extended family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arledge Ridge Cemetery Association, the Fannin County Historical Society or the Creative Art Center in Bonham.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Thursday, Mar 30, 2017 at Wise Funeral Home.
