Memorial Services for Betty Gale Willis, age 77, of Ravenna, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in the First Baptist Church-Bonham Activity Building under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Betty passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born March 9, 1945, in Mineral Wells, Texas, the daughter of Nathan Lawrence "Red" Barrett and Betty Jo Freeman Barrett. She married Gene Willis on June 10, 1966, in Graham, Texas. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Bonham where she sang in the choir, played handbells, taught Sunday School, and crocheted for Yarning to Serve. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Betty especially loved camping and traveling with her beloved husband, Gene. Mrs. Willis was a long-time librarian for Bonham ISD, and she loved to share her love of reading with many students at Bailey Inglish Elementary and later, Finley-Oates Elementary. She loved to support her kids and grandkids in all of their activities. Betty is preceded in death by her parents.
Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years Gene Willis, daughter, Lara Partridge and husband Derek of Wolfe City, Texas; son, Bret Willis and wife Mandy of Celeste, Texas; grandchildren, Will Partridge, Reese Partridge, Joshua Willis, and Jaylee Willis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the L.B. Morris Memorial Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church-Bonham.
Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the First Baptist Church-Bonham Activity Building from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
