Betty Alice Thornton

Betty Alice Lane Thornton was born on May 24, 1939 in Bonham, Texas to John Newton and Opal Florence Lane. She died on December 18, 2013 in Bonham, Texas. She graduated from Bonham High School in 1957. Betty was a four year cheerleader and in the National Honor Society. She attended TCU for two years and graduated from East Texas State in 1961.
In 1965, Betty married Tommy Thornton. They had two children, Amy Leigh and Lani Beth. Betty retired from SMU and moved back to Bonham in 1999. In Bonham, she was active in the First Presbyterian Church, the Ptomaine Club, several bridge clubs and the Bonham Golf and Country Club.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy and daughters, Amy Sidebottom and Robb, Lani Thornton and Bobby, her grandson Bryson and Jack Sidebottom, her sister Mary Ann Paige, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins.

There will be a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church 818 N. Main St. Bonham, Texas on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. A reception will follow immediately in the William's Educational Building. The family requests no flowers but memorials may be made in Betty's honor to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church Capital Renovation Fund 818 N. Main, Bonham, TX 75418.
