Betty Bishop 69, passed away at her home in Bonham, Texas on September 18, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lila Bishop and sister, Beverly Bishop. Survivors include nephew Robert (Bob) Nunnelee, Jr. and wife Cici of Lewisville, Texas; great-niece Christie and great-great niece, Peyton Nunnelee of Lewisville, Texas; nephew, Russell (Rusty) Nunnelee and wife Shelley of McKinney, Texas; cousin, Dr. Mary Ann Lipford of Stephenville, Texas; first cousins (once removed), Jolanne Lipford and Suzette Lipford of Austin, Texas,  Lynelle Lipford of Covington, Louisiana, Daniel Lipford and wife Mindlerae Seong of Little Elm, Texas, Nicole Lipford of Grand Prairie, Texas; special family friend and close companion, Barney Brinlee of Bonham, Texas.

Betty lived most of her life in Bonham where she attended public schools and was a member of the high school class of 1970.

At a young age, Betty began working in the fast-food business and serving the public at the Dairy Mart and Watson Burger. Piggly Wiggly grocery store then hired her as a checker. Several years later, Brookshire's grocery offered her a checker position which she accepted.  Betty's unique way of interacting with the public endeared her to the customers to the degree that they stood in long lines preferring to wait for her to check out their purchases. She perceived each person as a "friend" with whom she was genuinely interested. Her knowledge of people's family members, their individual concerns, their health challenges along with their triumphs was phenomenal. Betty's loving, caring spirit prompted others to look forward to one of her comforting hugs when they were in the store.

Those close to her know how much she loved animals and the lengths to which she went to help injured, abandoned, and abused cats, dogs along with other species throughout the years. Betty had pet cats and dogs of her own that received loving treatment rivalling the royals.

She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, former customers, and anyone who was the recipient of her sweet smile and hugs.
