Artie Sue Carpenter

Funeral services for Artie Sue Carpenter, 94, of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Dodd City Cemetery.  Sue passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Sue was born Oct. 18, 1926 in Slaton, Texas, the daughter of George A. Lewis and Lelah Ada Rhodes Lewis.  She married William Jasper "Willie" Carpenter on January 16, 1949, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1998.  Sue and Willie owned and operated Southside Grocery for many years.  She was a lifetime member of Northside Church of Christ.  Sue served as an Election Clerk for a number of County and City elections.  A true people person, she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and visiting with the voters.  She loved spending time with her family and traveling with her son, Steve on their train trips.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Leila Eutermarks (2004), sons, Richard Gary Carpenter (2011) and Steve Robert Carpenter (2018), grandson, Kevin and great great grandson, Levi.

Sue is survived by her two sons, Frank Carpenter (Brenda) and Joe Carpenter (Marjory), daughter-in-law, Ann Carpenter and son-in-law, Ted Eutermarks, grandchildren, Mary (Kevin), Sharon (Ken), Jim (Dee), John (Patti) and Scott (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Mykaela (Nathan), Cole, Cade, Madeleine, Collin, Katarina, Isabella, Christian, Richard, Spencer, Taylor, Tyra (Collin), Joseph, Kaitlyn, and Clayton; great great grandchildren, Emily, Katelynn and Amelia; extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 10:00 AM till service time, Saturday.
